I finished a book called "The Singing Fire" It was a really good book. The author is very descriptive. It was about 2 main characters who are both Jewish and come over to England to start a new life back in the late 1800's.
I was starting to read "The Full Cupboard of Life" but I just couldn't get into it.
On Val's advice, I'm reading "The Hounds of Baskerville" by Doyle.

Actually, my advice was just to read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Grant likes the Hound story. My favorites are The Red-Headed League and another one which I can't remember the title of, but I'll get it and let you know.
Got it! The Speckled Band.
Hi, was it "The full cupboard of life" by Alexander McCall Smith? Cause that is the last book in the series. The first is The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. I love the series--its really gentle and humourous--but you have to like that kind of book. --Kate
